Cooperation for PU seals
KraussMaffei Technologies and RAMPF Giessharze are teaming up to offer process solutions for injection moulded PU seals. KraussMaffei contributes the mixing head for high-pressure metering of small output volumes, injection moulding and RIM process technology while RAMPF supplies the high-pressure sealing foams.

Both companies are now offering their new turnkey solution worldwide. It is of special interest to customers in the automotive and electrical sectors, but will also find application in other fields. The benefit is that it is a continuous production process with the injection moulded parts immediately foamed with RAMPF material in a high-pressure process. The logistics are reduced and the cost eliminated, because parts need not be stored or buffered between moulding and foam application.

For the process, KraussMaffei has adapted its RimStar Nano PU metering machine and its MK 3.5/5UL mixing head for total output rates as low as 3 g/s. RAMPF's first two-component PU system for KraussMaffei is RAKUPUR 35-3500 HD, which is said to be ideal for sealing door modules, automotive fuse boxes or switch cabinets. Parts are tackfree within one to five minutes - depending on the system. The seal has a density from 200 g/l, low water absorptive capacity and attractive appearance while the foam forms a defined skin. The 35-3500 HD is available in various grades - from liquid to highly thixotropic.
