Vystar secures latex deal in India

U

S-based Vystar Corporation, which licenses the low antigenic protein-containing Vytex latex, has secured a three-year agreement with India's KA Prevulcanised Latex, to capture the growing Indian market.

According to the terms, KA gains exclusive rights to manufacture and sell Vytex in six South Asia countries of India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. The initial agreement period is for three years and is tied to specific minimum sales volumes and quality standards to retain the license and territory exclusivity.

India is the second largest consumer of natural rubber behind China and its consumption of concentrated latex for the production of medical and consumer goods, which are Vystar's target markets, will be 130,000 tonnes this year.

Vystar says the agreement allows it access to a protected market where the duties for imported latex raw material hover around 70%. The country also has a large manufacturing base for latex products like gloves, condoms and foam.

Based in Tamil Nadu, KA is part of the Ooppoottil Group, India's largest latex concentrate processor and latex glove producer.
