Lohia expands its product range

W

ith three decades of experience and having delivered more than 700 tape extrusion lines supported by 30,000 looms processing over 1 million tonnes/year of plastics, Indian company Lohia Starlinger is an established player in woven fabric industry for flexible packaging. It is continuously innovating and recently introduced a new multifilament spin-draw wind line, tape winder and a circular loom.

While the Baby Lofil HT has filled the gap in the supply chain by in-house production of customised high tenacity sewing yarn, the new Lofil HT is for those who are looking for a bigger capacity. With its four spinning positions and four winding heads, it can deliver flat yarn of up to 4,800 denier or ready to use intermingled yarn of up to 2,400 denier. The increased delivery speed of 1,500 m/minute means optimum utilisation of extrusion capacity at even lighter deniers, says Lohia.

Having launched its first Autoroto tape winder for the raffia industry in 2007, has now become an industry standard, says Lohia. Key features are the automatic changeover, equal length in bobbins, reduced wastage and increased productivity. Lohia says more than 7,000 Autoroto winders are running in the industry. Its next generation Autoroto winders are not only more efficient but require lower maintenance.

Circular looms are the norm for weaving PP/PE tapes into tubular fabric that goes into making these packaging solutions. For bulk packing, storing and transporting perishable agricultural produce like potatoes and onions, which need to breathe, "ventilated" bags are required. This fabric, due to its unique construction, previously could only be made on flat looms at considerably higher cost since flat looms are expensive. Besides bulk packing agricultural produce, bags made with this kind of fabric might also find use in other areas like sludge disposal. Now, Lohia says its new circular loom is able to meet the need for "ventilated" bags more cost effectively.
