Taiwanese company buys American SBC supplier

T

aiwanese TPE supplier TSRC Corporation has completed the US$168 million acquisition of US-based Dexco Polymers, a joint venture equally owned by ExxonMobil Chemical and Dow Chemical, that manufactures styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) and styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block co-polymers.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Dexco was established in 1988 and operates a facility in Plaquemine, Louisiana, which has an annual production capacity of SIS and SBS of 32,000 tonnes and 30,000 tonnes, respectively.

In a statement it released, TSRC said that together with Dexco, it plans to further strengthen its leading position in the global industry. The completion of the acquisition marks the commencement of the integration between the two companies. TSRC will become a fully integrated global supplier of SBC products.

TSRC operates a plant in Kaohsiung that has a capacity of 218,000 tonnes/year and also has a presence in China and Thailand
