Rubber industry on a fast track

THROUGH upstream R&D activities, Malaysia’s rubber industry will continue to expand its production with a target of reaching an output of 2 million tonnes of natural rubber and contributing RM52.9 billion to the country’s coffers by 2020. The introduction of an automatic rubber tapping system, roll out of mobile service applications and rubber yield programmes are all expected to help upgrade the sector, said Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) Director-General Datuk Dr Salmiah Ahmad, in an interview with PRA recently.

Trexel sets up base in China
Trexel

US-based foam moulding technology firm Trexel is setting up a subsidiary in China, including a technical centre in Shanghai and an office in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

The firm says that this is to meet the interest and the adoption of its MuCell technology by processors operating inside China but also with Chinese owned companies. Roger Cheng, previously technical manager of Trexel Hong Kong will become General Manager of Trexel (Shenzhen) Technology. Trexel’s existing business unit in the region, Trexel Hong Kong, will continue to serve as support hub for Australia and Southeast Asia.
