Schulman buys and sells in the US
ECM

US compounder A. Schulman is acquiring privately-owned ECM Plastics for $36.5 million and has also sold its vinyl chloride compounding facility in Bellevue, OH, to Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical.

ECM Plastics, which provides custom colour matching, speciality additive formulations and compounding, generates US$40 million in annual sales. Schulman says that ECM will provide strong synergies when combined with its current masterbatch and engineered plastics businesses. This is especially since the firm has undertaken this shift to higher-value products in engineered plastics, specialised colour and masterbatch to serve the volume automotive market.
