New PPs do not impart odours

A

ustrian supplier of resins Borealis has introduced a new range of BorPure random polypropylene (PP) copolymers with improved organoleptics, for transparent thinwall food packaging.

The organoleptic properties mean that it will not impart taste or odour to the packaged product. BorPure RJ766MO is the product of a combination of Borealis's Borstar PP polymerisation technology and Borealis Nucleation Technology (BNT). Together these technologies produce a material with a tailor-made molecular weight distribution (MWD) and crystalline structure resulting in fast crystallisation and a good balance of stiffness and impact properties.

The resins also boast a high melt flow rate of 70, allowing for energy saving advantages to containers with thin walls, says the company.
