Evonik partners with Nexam and Dixie for polyimides/composites

Evonik Jayhawk Fine Chemicals Corporation, a part of the Germany-headquartered Evonik Group, has entered into separate marketing agreements with Nexam Chemical and Dixie Chemicals for chemicals for polyimides and composites.

In its marketing agreement, Evonik's Jayhawk dianhydrides and Nexam Chemical's Neximid crosslinkers will be jointly offered to the polyimide market.

Evonik and Nexam Chemical will collaborate on modifying and improving their polyimide processing, while offering physical and mechanical property enhancements. The companies say that customers will benefit from consultation in product selection, pairing and optimal dosing to achieve desired properties of their polyimide coatings, films, fibres, foams and resins.

In a related venture, Evonik and Dixie Chemical Company have entered into a joint development agreement in support of the global epoxy market sector. Evonik and Dixie will collaborate on thermal curatives that combine the best attributes of Evonik's Jayhawk dianhydride and Dixie's monoanhydride competencies. A portfolio of products will be available from Dixie in early 2016.

Borys Schafran, Director, Marketing & Business Development, commented, "We respect Dixie’s expertise in epoxy formulating and applied technology. These new products will not only address ease-of-use, which customers have been asking for, but will also improve the properties of epoxy coatings, moulding compounds and composite materials. This is especially important in applications where sustained mechanical, thermal and dielectric properties in adverse conditions over longer periods of time is a must-have requirement."
