Jindal buys ExxonMobil’s film unit

Indian flexible packaging films producer Jindal Poly Films is buying US-based Exxon Mobil Chemicals’s global BOPP film business, reported in an announcement made to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The agreement to acquire the division covers five BOPP production locations in the US and Europe. The manufacturing sites are in Georgia and Oklahoma in the US and the Netherlands and Belgium in Europe. The transaction also includes technology transfer and sales office in New York and office in Luxembourg, with a total work force of 1,500.

Jindal has been in the films business since 1984 and manufactures PET and BOPP films. It entered the metallising business in 2003 and also has India’s largest metallising capacity.
