BMS commissions second TPU line in India

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS), an independent subgroup within Bayer and a leading German supplier of high-tech polymers, has successfully commissioned a second line for production of Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPU) in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu India. The extension of the production facility was recently inaugurated by Ajay Durrani, Managing Director and Senior Country Representative – Indian SubContinent, Bayer MaterialScience Pvt Ltd, and Marius Wirtz, Global Head of TPU Business at BMS.

With the investment, the annual capacity of the Cuddalore site will increase to 6,000 metric tonnes from its current capacity of 2,500 metric tonnes. The Cuddalore site supplies TPU under the brand name Desmopan for applications in Hose, Tubing, Belt Profile (HTBP), Sports & Leisure (Shoes), IT, Cables, Industrial Mechanical, Automotive, Compounding and Films & Coatings segments. The company is the local market leader and offers a wide range of innovative TPUs from both Bayer’s local and global TPU portfolio.

BMS’s new innovative TPU solutions include High-Transparent grades, C3 Ether based Desmopan grades, High Modulus grades, Solutions for additive manufacturing, and TPU’s made from Green house gas & Bio based raw materials.
