Bemis to expand in Asia with Chinese acquisition

US-based supplier of pressure sensitive materials Bemis has acquired all of the common stock of Foshan New Changsheng Plastics Films (NSC), a speciality film manufacturer located in Foshan, China. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The company said the acquisition is not expected to affect its earnings projections for 2013.

"The NCS acquisition represents an important step in our growth strategy by establishing a Bemis film platform for the Asia-Pacific region," said Henry Theisen, CEO of Bemis. "NCS has strong customer relationships and expertise in speciality film manufacturing for food packaging, personal care packaging, consumer electronics and specialty applications. The newly expanded manufacturing facilities will also be capable of manufacturing film for sensitive medical device and pharmaceutical applications. With this new speciality film platform, we are well positioned to increase our market position in the Asia-Pacific region."

Founded in 1858, Bemis is a supplier of packaging and pressure sensitive materials used by food, consumer products, health care and other companies worldwide. Bemis reported 2012 sales of US$5.1 billion. The company employs about 20,000 individuals worldwide.
