Bekum restructures organisation

Germany-headquartered blow moulding machinery maker Bekum Maschinenfabriken has announced it has received court approval for the reorganisation plan it proposed in September last year.

The restructuring process was aimed at consolidating the manufacturing of packaging machines at Bekum’s existing production site in Traismauer, Austria, with the sales, administration, and development departments continuing to reside at Bekum headquarters located in Berlin. Bekum’s goal is to complete the reorganisation process, including the relocation of the packaging machine assembly from Berlin to Traismauer, Austria, by the third quarter of this year.

Bekum’s Managing Director, Andreas Kandt further explained that the company opted to focus on its core competencies to include the design, development, manufacture and sale of blow moulding machines. In this respect, the relocation to Traismauer includes the creation of new manufacturing and office space, the hiring of additional staff, the transfer of technology and the optimization of business process measures.

For over 50 years Bekum has been recognized as the technology leader in blow molding standards. As a family business, it has built a global presence in the design, sale and manufacture of blow moulding machines for the packaging, automotive, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, and it says it is looking forward to a long and successful partnership with its customers and vendors in the future.
