Storopack posts increased revenues; strengthens worldwide presence

German protective packaging specialists, Storopack group of companies represented in 60 locations across 17 countries, achieved consolidated revenue in 2014 of approximately EIR353 million, which has exceeded its revenue targets for the year. The figure represents revenues of EUR209 million in Europe, EUR89 million in North and South America, and EUR55 million in Asia. Storopack also reports positive results for the onset of the current financial year.

Storopack is further expanding its presence worldwide in leading markets. In April 2014Storopack acquired a majority stake in Action Specialty, a Florida company which offers loose fill, paper padding, air cushioning and other padding systems. In July 2014Storopack took over the protective packaging product division of Cleanpak (Tampa, Florida), a producer and marketeer of loose fill and other products such as BUBBLEplus packaging film and Mailerplus bubble-lined mailing envelopes.In October 2014Storopack took over its long-term Japanese sales partner EJ.Co Ltd in Ebina/Kanagawa-Ken.

With effect from 1 January 2015Storopack acquired 100% of the shares in the Italian company Alternative 1999 s.r.l. in Cento, Ferrara Province with which it has cooperated with since 1999 for sales of PAPERplus paper padding systems and AIRplus air cushion systems and since 2008 for marketing of FOAMplus foam padding systems.

Storopack achieved more than a third of revenue from outside Europe over the last year and its local sales teams offer in-depth knowledge of their local markets. In China, Storopack gained new customers and thus after a weaker year in 2013 soon recovered its position in the Chinese market resulting inclear profits in 2014.

In parallel to expanding its markets Storopack has also introduced new product innovations and improvements over the last year. In addition Storopack has developed additional system solutions for temperature-controlled transport to offer a broader range to its customers in the pharma and biotechnology sector in particular.

Meanwhile, in the Asian market, Storopack is represented by sites in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, India and Japan, which together employ 1,067 workers. In 2014, the company further expanded its dealer network in the region.
