Toyo, ENPPI to build PE plant in Egypt

Toyo Engineering Corporation , together with ENPPI, an engineering company under the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum, has been awarded a contract (estimated value of US$400 million) to build a 400,000 tonne/year polyethylene (PE) plant that is due to start in early 2015.

The PE plant will form part of the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company’s (Ethydco) petrochemical complex to be established in Alexandria, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and owned by Ethydco, under the country’s investment law # 8/1997. According to Toyo, the plant will be the largest of its kind in Egypt.

Toyo and ENPPI, based on the most advanced PE technology of Univation Technologies of US., will execute the EPC and Commissioning under a lump-sum turnkey contract; with the former leading the entire project execution, undertaking project management, basic engineering, and procurement of key equipment; whilst the latter to take charge of joint project management, a part of basic engineering, detailed engineering and procurement of other equipment and materials.

Both companies will execute the construction and commissioning in collaboration with Petrojet, an Egyptian construction company as a subcontractor.
