Rapak opens new manufacturing facility in Thailand

Rapak, a business unit of DS Smith Plastics and market leader in liquid bag-in box packaging and filling systems, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Thailand. The new facility, to be based in Chachoengsao, about 20 minutes from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport, will serve Rapak customers in the South East Asian region.

Rapak’s new facility, being near various irradiation facilities and Thailand’s larger shipping port , the Laem Chabang, will benefit local customers with efficient supply chain, reduced lead-times, lower inventories and freight costs, explained Santi Khunpisitwong, General Manager of Rapak Thailand.

The new facility is equipped with clean-room environments for bag manufacturing, such as aseptic bag-in box products and other products, including bag in a box, for emerging market segments, such as Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) and Food Service, he said.

Simon Mander, Managing Director of Rapak Asia Pacific.noted the growth potential in Bag-in-Box packaging solutions as customers and end users see the benefit of the environmental credentials, variety of dispensing applications and cost advantages of such packaging solutions over other traditional forms of liquid packaging.
