Upping capacity for Formlite
US-based Cyclics Corporation has increased the production of its Formlite plug assist material to meet the demand from the thermoforming industry. The company has added three new mixers at its plants in Germany and the US, thus ramping up production ten times the current levels.

Made from Cyclics’s patented CBT engineered thermoplastic resin (the cyclic form of PBT resin), Formlite is used to produce high clarity finished parts for the food and drug packaging sectors. It operates at higher temperatures than competitive materials (up to 220°C) and works well with PP, PET and oriented PS. The material can also be quickly machined, while the smoothness on the top of the plug produces thermoformed parts with no “witness” marks, meaning there are less rejects and higher quality finished parts. Formlite is available in rod and sheet form.
