New measuring device

UK-based materials testing specialist Imatek has introduced the R6000 laboratory grade twin-bore capillary rheometer to undertake rheological measurements on a wide range of materials. Both shear and extensional properties of the specimens can be obtained, at rates representative of normal processing like extrusion, injection moulding, blow moulding and film blowing.

Features of the R6000 are its robust and reliable design based on an H-Frame construction rated at 250 kN, with force drive capability of up to 100 kN, and twin bores of 15 mm diameter as standard. Another feature is the instrumentation and software user interface. The RheoSolve software is a single package designed to allow the configuration of experiments and the analysis of resulting data. It may also be used in a stand-alone mode for off-line analysis. The highly configurable user interface is flexible and a series of user levels can be defined to restrict access to certain features of the software so that less advanced users can use the software without the risk of producing invalid results.

The R6000 also offers a backlit LCD display showing machine operating status and barrel temperature and allowing for manual user input via a keypad and thumbwheel. Options include die swell, melt strength measurement and thermal conductivity.
