Reliance takes delivery of a combination line
Indian extrusion machinery maker Rajoo Engineers recently delivered a five-layer barrier thermoformable sheet line that can also double up as a blown film line to Reliance Industries’s Product Application Centre in Chembur, India.
With an output of 75 kg/hour of barrier sheets or films, the combo line consists of four extruders, screenchangers, melt pumps, flat sheet die, Universal co‐ex five-layer diehead and fully automated process control panel. The extruders have the ability to convert the line from blown film extrusion to sheet extrusion and vice‐versa.
The line is designed to produce HIPS, EVOH and PP sheets of up to 650 mm width in athickness range from 0.2-0.8 mm and barrier films from 25-100 microns. Being a laboratory line for testing and developing of new formulations, process and parameter control was of importance. Thus, a main feature is the control system incorporating Siemens’s SIMATIC programmes with screens developed using Protool. HMI software allows for complete machine parameterisation, drives set-up, recipes, trending and alarm functions. Also applied is a European-make continuous gravimetric feeding system, which records information of formulations produced.
