Composites show makes its debut in Singapore
The first edition of the composites JEC Show Asia in Singapore welcomed 8,325 visitors. While Singapore has fallen out of favour for other plastics show organisers, it seems to have found a niche for the composites industry. Said Frédérique Mutel, JEC’s CEO, "Many key composite industry customers and players have spoken to us about the need for an international platform in Asia, where the composite industry is registering its highest growth rates. Singapore was chosen for its central location in this region of the world. As a hub for knowledge and expertise, it is also a place that attracts top-notch researchers, investors and technological entrepreneurs."
Professionals from the Asia Pacific region accounted for 82.3% of the visitors from the 58 countries that attended the event over three days from 22-24 October. The exhibition had 300 exhibitors, mainly from Asia and the Middle East, displaying aerospace, MRO, road transport, new generation of rolling stock and construction (pipes, tanks and domes) products made of composites.
Now an annual event, the next edition of the show will take place from 14-16 October 2009 in Singapore at the Suntec exhibition centre. In the light of the success of this first show, the JEC Group has already reserved 11,500 sq m of floor space, which is 75% up on this year’s 6,500 sq m of space.
