New single-site catalyst
LyondellBasell has launched an Avant M single-site catalyst system designed to extend the performance capabilities of its Metocene polypropylene (PP) technology platform.

The catalyst family, which is in use at its facilities, extends the range of homopolymer, random and impact co-polymer grades by offering performance from very low to very high melt flow rates, while maintaining levels of homogeneity, transparency and other features typical of single-site catalysis. Compared to existing metallocene catalysts, the new family is said to offer significant advantages, such as smooth operations and process control. Recently, a Metocene PP technology licence was granted to PolyMirae in South Korea.
