Tech centres: Polyvantis sets up tech centre in Shanghai; SI opens tech centre in UK
Acrylics/PC products firm Polyvantis opened a new technology centre in Shanghai, China, after nearly three years of planning. The centre brings together cross-functional teams from R&D, commercial, and manufacturing to collaborate more closely and respond faster to evolving market demands.
The new facility complements Polyvantis’ four existing technical centres in Germany, the Netherlands, and the US. Together, these centres form a global innovation network focused on advancing the performance and sustainability of semi-finished materials. The Shanghai location will cater to optical and electrical films, supporting fast-growing markets such as electronics, displays, and transportation.
Dr. Sandeep Dhawan, CEO of Polyvantis said the tech centre will play a critical role in strengthening its global innovation network and accelerating the development of advanced products that meet real-world needs. “As we grow, we remain focused on building partnerships and creating opportunities that benefit our customers, our people, and the industries we serve.”
The company’s portfolio includes Plexiglas and Lexan film/sheet.
In other news, additives firm SI Group, has also opened its European Innovation Centre (EIC) in Four Ashes, UK. The new facility is equipped with advanced tools and resources to support a wide range of research activities. With a focus on plastics and rubber application development, as well as analytical characterisation, the EIC will serve as a collaborative hub for addressing technical challenges and driving sustainable innovation in partnership with customers and industry leaders.
In addition to the new Four Ashes, UK facility, SI Group also operates tech centres in:
- Houston, Texas, US
- Rotterdam Junction, New York, US
- Morgantown, West Virginia, US
- Lote, India
- Shanghai, China
